Nowadays, increasing investments are being made to develop healthcare by utilizing the op- portunities that digitalization brings. This with the goal that Sweden should be a leader in terms of using the opportunities of digitalization and e-health to increase welfare in society. As this means that healthcare professionals with mainly medical education must increasingly handle information technology in their daily work, an interest was aroused to compare what their expectations of using IT systems look like in relation to actuality. To broaden the per- spective further, it is studied whether this differs between different healthcare professions. The chosen question “How do the expectations and actuality differ between different healthcare professions when using IT systems?” is answered through a qualitative study where we conducted a literature study and several interviews. The theory applied is the Nor- malization Process Theory (NPT) based on the following four constructions: coherence, cog- nitive participation, collective actions and reflexive monitoring. The study concludes that there are significant differences between different healthcare professions and how they per- ceive expectations and actuality regarding information systems.
