O tema da sexualidade sempre esteve presente nas estruturas hierárquicas sociais, basta recorrer à história para encontrar evidências da relevância que este tema ocupou e ainda ocupa, mostrando-se como um objeto de disputa e de controle, seja individual ou socialmente. São incomensuráveis as questões que perpassam pela sexualidade humana, na qual se articulam inúmeras categorias, tais como: desejo, valores, crenças, pertença, reconhecimento; todas essas categorias em maior ou menor grau forjam aquilo que se entende por identidade. Política e história balizam e ajudam a formar os significados identitários que regulam as interações no âmbito social e institucional, no entanto, o debate oriundo deste processo está constantemente em transformação, isso reforça a necessidade de discutir não só a sexualidade, mas também a ideia de identidade de gênero, não como meros fenômenos ou de forma isolada, mas a partir da politização da sexualidade. A discussão acerca da identidade de gênero, tornou-se um fenômeno cada vez mais recorrente no seio das discussões sociais, discussões essas permeadas por questões que apontam para um horizonte de reformulação conceitual. A partir dos estudos realizados por Michel Foucault, sobre a História da Sexualidade procurar-se-á analisar as instâncias que circundam e balizam a construção do gênero, bem como da identidade social. Apoiar-se-á no conceito de biopoder para traçar um paralelo entre o conceito de gênero e tudo aquilo que o faz ser socialmente aceito ou não. The questions that permeate human sexuality, which articulate innumerable categories such as desire, values, beliefs, belonging, recognition, are incommensurable; All these categories to a greater or lesser extent form what is meant by identity. Politics and history guide and shape the identity meanings that regulate interactions in the social and institutional spheres, however, the debate arising from this process is constantly changing, this reinforces the need to discuss not only sexuality, but also the idea of Gender identity, not as mere phenomena or in isolation, but from the politicization of sexuality. The discussion about gender identity has become an increasingly recurrent phenomenon within social discussions, discussions permeated by issues that point to a horizon of conceptual reformulation. From the studies carried out by Michel Foucault on the History of Sexuality, an attempt will be made to analyze the instances that surround and guide the construction of gender as well as social identity. It will rely on the concept of biopower to draw a parallel between the concept of gender and everything that makes it socially accepted or not. Such an attempt aims to understand the feminine and masculine, in order to seek to understand those manifestations of sexuality that do not fit in these two concepts as gender identity, with a view to the glimpse of an identity free of classification.
