Previous issue date: 2018-08-22 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico - CNPq / The research aims to analyze the construction of the public image of President Jo?o Goulart and his government (1961-1964) through the press in Rio de Janeiro - Correio da Manh?, Jornal do Brasil and ?ltima Hora. Three political moments are analyzed that marked different phases and moments of the government: inauguration of Goulart, in 1961; referendum for return of presidentialist regime or maintenance of parliamentary system, in 1963; and reform meeting, in 1964. The aim is to analyze and understand how newspapers elaborated president's public image on political events that had in common the discussion of categories such as democracy, citizenship and popular participation, located in periods of political, economic and military crisis. In this study, when analyzing the journalistic discourses and the changes of opinion of press according to the political events, the importance of production of press in our perception of the social, political and historical reality is considered, determining a look on the past. / A pesquisa tem como objetivo analisar a constru??o de imagens p?blicas do presidente Jo?o Goulart e seu governo (1961-1964) atrav?s da grande imprensa carioca ? Correio da Manh?, Jornal do Brasil e ?ltima Hora. Analisa-se tr?s momentos pol?ticos que marcaram fases diferentes do governo: a posse de Goulart, em 1961; o plebiscito pelo retorno do regime presidencialista ou a manuten??o do sistema parlamentarista, em 1963; e o com?cio das reformas de base, em 1964. Trata-se de analisar e compreender de que maneira os jornais elaboraram as imagens do presidente em eventos pol?ticos que tinham em comum a discuss?o de categorias como democracia, cidadania e participa??o popular, situados em per?odos de crises pol?tica e militar, em um contexto maior de crise econ?mica no pa?s. Neste estudo, ao analisar os discursos jornal?sticos e as mudan?as de opini?o dos jornais conforme os acontecimentos pol?ticos, considera-se a import?ncia da produ??o da grande imprensa na nossa percep??o da realidade social, pol?tica e hist?rica, determinando um olhar sobre o passado.
