The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the implementation of the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child and how the preschool administration utilizes it on a daily basis. The study is based on the following three questions 1, How is the Convention on the Rights of the Child implemented? 2, How is the Convention on the Rights of the Child interpreted and 3, What does the work with the Convention on the Rights of the Child look like? The aim of the study is achieved by using a qualitative text analysis to analyze interviews done with experts on Child Rights in the preschool education sector and preschool teachers in the municipality Malmö, referred to as Malmö Stad in the thesis. The results from the qualitative text analysis are then again reviewed through the lens of an implementation theory. Results conclude that the implementation of, and the work with, the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child varies depending on what district the preschool is located in, due to difference in directives from the management and different interpretations from employees. This can be a result of the vagueness of the law, that the implementation has been done in several stages, lack of control and follow ups on the decision to implement the Convention on the Rights of the Child as a law. The study shows that all employees are not offered the same tools and resources to understand and work with the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
