Lättläst arbetsmaterial

The purpose of this work is to improve easy-to-read material for children and teenagers, and bring forth effective guidelines for how this kind of work should be executed. In addition, the work has also required a study of the topic (easy-to-read) and the related principles that usually is recommended. The easy-to-read material that are in focus usually contains reading comprehension exorcises, grammar exorcises and exorcises regarding the connection between word and picture. These types of materials also require that the person (student) have read the related literature to be able to answer the question. Initially a readability-analysis was done on three of the existent materials. Some of the problem that where found where for example variation in fonts, absence of guidelines and unnecessary long text lines. Regarding typographic elements, there were also found potentially flaws in font size and spacing. Next, a manual for how easy-to-read information should be designed where made. The manual where based on the theories and guidelines that’s usually recommended during the making of easy-to-read information. Thus we approach the biggest difficulty with easy-toread as a subject. As a fact, there are few related principles that with certainty can be proclaimed as effective. The next step was to develop an improved version of the existing working material. The improvement mainly concern areas such as text, layout and visual tools. The new material was also tested on a selected group with positive results. Some of the results reveal that the most appreciated changes concerns the layout and visual tools. 5 This work again shows the difficulties of easy-to-read as a subject. There are many recommendations for how to produce easy-to-read information materials. However, most of them are not based on empirical evidences. One profound difficulty with the subject is that most of the principles are not isolated phenomenon. Whether these principles can stand on its own, therefore remain difficult to determine.
