Smak för motion, avsmak för föreningsidrott : En kvalitativ studie med utgångspunkt i Bourdieus habitusbegrepp / Taste for exercise and distaste for competitive sports

The purpose of this essay is to examine how students, who are not active in a competitive sport in their spare time, experience how the physical education contributes to their approach to physical exercise. To be able to study this, Pierre Bourdieu made a basis to visualise the factors considering their approach to physical exercise in school and in their spare time. The study shows a tendency of students being more individual in their approach, and wishes that their education should be more adapted to their needs. Bourdieu’s thoughts about habitus, capital and taste takes expression during the interviews. Even though the respondents are not active in any competitive sports, they still tend to enjoy the physical education in school and most of them receive enjoyment in physical exercise in their spare time.
