Previous issue date: 2018-02-28 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico - CNPq / This dissertation (master thesis) is based on a case study that aimed to investigate the inclusion of immigrant students in Basic Education, specifically in the High School, in the city of Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, from the view of the students themselves. From a transnational perspective, the qualitative research was based on Oral History principles for data collection and had two young Haitian immigrants living in the city and enrolled in the High School of a large college as participants in the survey. Through the conceptions of the violence of Johan Galtung and Frantz Fanon (physical, structural, cultural and psychological), this work analyzes the violence to which these students are exposed in the country of origin and in Brazil due to its migratory process and how these violence are intersected by social markers of difference such as race, gender, generation, and origin. As a result, this study problematizes the violence to which these young women have been exposed because of this diasporic process and tries, humbly, critically and reflexively, to point out ways to a school education that values the richness of cultural diversity through critical interculturality.
