Estudio de la religiosidad en La Virgen de los sicarios y El desbarrancadero de Fernando Vallejo.

Study of religiosity in La Virgen de los sicarios and El desbarrancadero by Fernando Vallejo. To read Fernando Vallejo is to enter a world filled with symbolism. Within this symbolism there are some themes that predominate, such as religion and violence. The characters in the chosen novels of this study express beliefs, rites and aptitudes that break with the established frameworks in Colombian and Spanish-speaking society in general, the works are also relevant, seeing them from a literary point of view. The study aims to see how religiosity is presented in both works, to analyse and compare whether there is a unitary discourse, to see if they are represented in the same way and to distinguish any evolution in their thinking. Investigating what is the socio-cultural biographical context of the author and how has it influenced the image of religion that is poured into the two works of study? As a method we used a diachronic study and a comparative study in which we examine the changes and evolutions of language and society in Medellín in the last decade of the millennium. The theory of the new historicism was used to determine the presence of social energy, to establish the sites of power, to point to memory. We delve into religious themes, analysing the author's approach and his way of presenting the register. The results show significant anecdotes where the religiosity aspects are predominant, these aspects go deep into the identity of the characters and their identity. We also found similarities in both novels regarding the use of religiosity such as the faith put in icons and cults. In conclusion we see how the results of the study answer the research questions by showingthe socio-cultural biographical context of the author and how it has influenced the image of religion that is poured into the two works of study.
