FundaÃÃo Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cientifico e TecnolÃgico / A presente tese à um estudo de caso que versa sobre a histÃria do GinÃsio Escola Normal VirgÃlio TÃvora, conhecido como GVT, e sua contribuiÃÃo para a formaÃÃo de docentes na regiÃo do MaciÃo de BaturitÃ/CE. Trata-se de uma entidade privada, de carÃter filantrÃpico, situada na cidade de Aracoiaba/CE, fundada por SalomÃo Alves de Moura Brasil em 1958 e mantida pela AssociaÃÃo dos Educadores de Aracoiaba, tendo o encerramento de suas atividades em 2004. ComeÃou com o curso ginasial no ano de 1960, mas a partir de 1964 passou a oferecer o Curso Normal e em 1974 os Estudos Adicionais. Objetivou-se precipuamente compreender a histÃria do GVT e sua contribuiÃÃo para a formaÃÃo de docentes do 1 grau na regiÃo do MaciÃo de BaturitÃ. Especificamente buscou-se verificar como se desenvolveram o Curso Normal e Estudos Adicionais na instituiÃÃo de ensino, enfatizando as mudanÃas ocorridas no perÃodo em que os referidos cursos funcionaram, de modo particular, as determinaÃÃes da Lei n 5.692/71; identificar, a partir das narrativas de professores que estudaram na instituiÃÃo, como ocorreram seus processos formativos, tendo por base as prÃticas educativas desenvolvidas; analisar as contribuiÃÃes da escola para as vidas e atuaÃÃo profissional dos docentes que là estudaram. Realizaram-se pesquisas bibliogrÃficas, consultas a arquivos escolares, documentos de outras instituiÃÃes e entrevistas com ex-alunos da escola; tambÃm foram utilizadas fotografias para ilustrar os acontecimentos. Analisaram-se os dados a partir do cruzamento das informaÃÃes contidas nas fontes escritas e orais, considerando-se os postulados teÃricos que fundamentaram a investigaÃÃo. Confirmou-se que o GVT contribuiu para a formaÃÃo de professores de Aracoiaba e da regiÃo do MaciÃo de BaturitÃ, tendo em vista o seu pioneirismo e suas prÃticas educativas, dentre outros aspectos. Os antigos Cursos Normais e os Estudos Adicionais eram considerados pelos professores como sendo eficazes. Observou-se que o processo de formaÃÃo docente, embora oscilando entre a precariedade e a eficÃcia, de acordo com as mudanÃas ocorridas no tempo, influencia na prÃtica profissional. / The present Doctorate thesis is a case study contemplating the history of the Virgilio Tavora Primary School and Teacher Training College, also known as GVT, and its contribution to education in the region known as Massif of BaturitÃ/CE. The GVT was a philanthropic organization located in the city of Aracoiaba/CE. It was founded by SalomÃo Alves de Moura Brasil, in 1958, being maintained by the Aracoiaba Educators Association until 2004, when it ceased its activities. In 1960 it started with Junior High School, but from 1964 it began to offer the Teacher Training Course. The Additional Studies were incorporated in 1974. Our intent is to comprehend the history of GVT and its contribution to the training of the primary school teachers in the aforementioned region of Massif of BaturitÃ. This study seeks to verify how the Teacher Training Course and the Additional Studies Programme were developed, emphasizing the changes that occurred in the period in which the referred courses operated. In doing so, it will pursue â following the narratives of teachers who studied in that institution â, to identify, not only how their training processes happened, but also the foundations of the educational practices developed by the GVT. And thus, to analyze the contribution of the school for the lives and professional activity of the teachers who studied there. Bibliographical researches, consultations both in the school archives and documents from another institutions and interviews with former students of the school were carried out; we also have used photos to illustrate the events. The collected data was analyzed based on the cross-referencing of the information contained in the written and oral sources, considering the theoretical postulates that underpinned the investigation. It is well known that the GVT contributed to the training of teachers in Aracoiaba and in all the region of the Massif of BaturitÃ, in regard to its pioneering and educational practices, among other aspects. The bygone Teacher Training Courses and Additional Studies Programme were considered by those educators who participated in them to be effective. To conclude, it was noticed that the very process of teacher training influences the professional practice â even though oscillating, according to the changes of time, between precariousness and efficacy, according to changes in time, influences professional practice.
