A UFC Ã submetida ao Sistema Nacional da AvaliaÃÃo da EducaÃÃo Superior â SINAES, composto de trÃs macro-etapas: auto-avaliaÃÃo, avaliaÃÃo externa e avaliaÃÃo de desempenho estudantil, informando ao MEC dados que orientem a tomada de decisÃo para o estabelecimento de polÃticas pÃblicas de expansÃo e melhoria do Ensino Superior no PaÃs. O interesse deste estudo trata da etapa condizente ao processo de auto-avaliaÃÃo no qual a comunidade acadÃmica avaliou a InstituiÃÃo em certas dimensÃes. O objetivo desse estudo foi diagnosticar os cursos de pÃs-graduaÃÃo (stricto sensu) da UFC, com respeito Ãs dimensÃes especÃficas a partir da apreciaÃÃo dos discentes, utilizando as informaÃÃes coletadas no processo avaliativo. A investigaÃÃo sobre indicadores usados no instrumento respondido por estudantes foi o principal procedimento metodolÃgico adotado, e foi amparado pela anÃlise documental do material publicado pelo MinistÃrio da EducaÃÃo, por meio do INEP, bem como pelo Projeto de Auto-AvaliaÃÃo institucional da UFC e seu RelatÃrio Final. A anÃlise dos dados adotou procedimentos estatÃsticos para descriÃÃo das informaÃÃes obtidas por meio de questionÃrio objetivo aplicado via internet. O perÃodo de coleta de informaÃÃes aconteceu durante os meses de marÃo a julho de 2006. O pÃblico atingido na apuraÃÃo dos instrumentos somou 71 estudantes de cursos de mestrado e doutorado. A base de dados foi disponibilizada e importada para o programa SPSS, que forneceu a sistematizaÃÃo das respostas por meio de grÃficos e tabelas. Os principais resultados revelaram que existe a necessidade de se enfrentar desafios de reformulaÃÃo das aÃÃes institucionais praticadas pelas coordenaÃÃes dos programas stricto sensu, bem como a organizaÃÃo e integraÃÃo entre as disciplinas que demonstram ter problemas segundo a apreciaÃÃo dos cursistas. O desempenho docente foi avaliado de forma positiva, considerando as particularidades entre os dois nÃveis (mestrado e doutorado). / The UFC is subjected to the National System of Evaluation of Higher Education - SINAES, composed of three macro-steps: self-evaluation, external evaluation and assessment of student performance, informing the MEC data to guide decision making for the establishment of public policies to the expansion and improvement of Higher Education in Brazil. The interest of this study deals with the step of the process of self-evaluation in which the academic community evaluated the institution in certain dimensions. The aim of this research was to diagnose post-graduate (stricto sensu)
courses of the UFC, with respect to the specific dimensions from the assessment of students, using information collected in the evaluation process. The research on indicators used in the instrument completed by students was the main methodological procedure adopted, and was supported by documentary analysis of the material published by the Ministry of Education, through the INEP and the UFCÂs Project for institutional Self Assessment and the Final Report. The data analysis procedures adopted to describing statistical information obtained by questionnaire applied via the internet. The period of data gathering happened during the months March to July 2006. The public reached in the investigation of the instruments totaled 71 students in masters and doctoral courses. The database was released and imported into the SPSS program, which provided the systematization of responses through graphs and tables. The main results showed that there is a need to face challenges of institutional reform of the actions offered by coordination of the stricto sensu, and the organization and integration between the disciplines that have shown problems in the assessment of the course. The teacher performance was evaluated as positive, considering the particularities of the two levels (master and doctor)
