Previous issue date: 2001 / The main purpose of this work is to show how the investments in training influence the financial returns of Aracruz Celulose S.A., in the period from january/1998 to december/2000. The data will be treated using quantitative and qualitative parameters. Our analyses will be based on the practical elements. In order to study the idea of investment return in terms of training and questions involving motivation, a knowledge of learning, which is in itself complex because of the varieties of learning theories which don¿t fit into the cultural models being studied, we direct our attention to the necessity of a model which understands the problems of existing conditions. For so much, the most appropriate method for the treatment of data relative to motivation, to knowledge and to learning, will be the ex post facto, because this refers to facts abready known and the researcher would be unable to control or manipulate the variables. / O objetivo principal deste trabalho foi de verificar o quanto os investimentos em treinamentos impactaram nos retornos financeiros para a Aracruz Celulose S. A, no período de janeiro de 1998 a dezembro de 2000. Os dados foram tratados na forma paramétricos quantitativos e qualitativos. As análises e observações realizadas nesse estudo foram extraídas de elementos práticos. Para trabalhar o tema relativo ao retorno de investimento em treinamentos e as questões que envolvem a motivação, o conhecimento e a aprendizagem de pessoas. Por ser pontos muito complexo e críticos, existe uma gama muito grande de teorias editadas, que não se encaixam em modelos de culturas a serem estudadas, embora direcionamo- nos para a necessidade de um modelo que entenda os problemas nas condições existentes. Para tanto, o método mais apropriado para tratamento dos dados relativos à motivação, ao conhecimento e à aprendizagem, será o ex post facto, pois este se refere a fatos já conhecidos e o pesquisador não terá meios de controlar ou manipular as variáveis.
