Previous issue date: 2017-05-15 / To study university institutions is justified by the role they represent in any country, and
specifically in Brazil, as an organization which should commit to the construction and
reconstruction of knowledge, to its transmission and dissemination. Besides that, there is little
production of theoretical and empirical papers which approach the evolution of federal
universities organizational structures. Before this challenge, we have idealized an exploratory
and qualitative research, in which we have developed a bibliographic mapping on the subject
in scientific articles and a survey of secondary data in internal and external documents. This
study aims at identifying the external changes and their effects on the internal restructuring of
the university institution, which can be seen in statutes and regulations, comprehending change
as transformation forms and functions filed by an organization and derived from external and
internal pressure. As a result, we can conclude that the external factors determine the functional
arrangements and internal structuring as the causes of change in institution structures. / Estudar a instituição universitária justifica-se pelo papel que ela representa em qualquer lugar,
e especificamente no Brasil, como organização que deve empenhar-se na construção e na
reconstrução do conhecimento, em sua transmissão e disseminação. Além disso, há pouca
produção de trabalhos teóricos e empíricos que abordem o tema da evolução das estruturas
organizacionais das universidades federais. Diante desse desafio, idealizou-se uma pesquisa
exploratória e qualitativa, na qual foi realizado um mapeamento bibliográfico sobre o tema em
artigos científicos e de levantamento de dados secundários nos documentos constituídos tanto
interna quanto externamente. Este estudo tem como objetivo identificar as mudanças externas
e seus efeitos na reestruturação interna da instituição universitária, que se manifesta nos
estatutos e regimentos, compreendendo por mudanças as alterações das formas e funções
impetradas por uma organização e decorrentes de pressões externas e internas. Como resultado
desta pesquisa, pode-se concluir que os fatores externos determinam os arranjos funcionais e
estruturais internos como causadores da mudança nas estruturas da instituição.
