Previous issue date: 2004 / Resumo: O objetivo desse estudo foi conhecer a experiência da aposentadoria vivida por um grupo de professores aposentados, homens e mulheres, do Instituto de Biologia da Unicamp, a fim de compreender as expectativas criadas por esses sujeitos neste momento da vida e entender a relação trabalho, aposentadoria e velhice no contexto da realidade na qual estão inseridos. Procuramos também conhecer a trajetória de vida laboral desse grupo, identificando os significados atribuídos ao trabalho e à aposentadoria, de modo a avaliar a experiência da aposentadoria, evento que marca a existência no mundo do trabalho, e identificar a percepção desses sujeitos em relação à sua vida atual, após adentrarem ao universo da aposentadoria. Buscamos compreender como esses professores estruturaram suas vidas nessa nova fase, conhecer as mudanças ocorridas e o quanto se concretizaram seus projetos de vida. O pressuposto central desse estudo fundamentou-se na idéia de que homens e mulheres aposentados atribuem significados distintos para trabalho e aposentadoria, o que influi na experiência da aposentadoria, que passa a ser vivida de maneira diferenciada para homens e mulheres e de forma indesejada, refletindo, sobremaneira, na fase posterior, isto é, na maturidade. Os sujeitos escolhidos foram três homens e três mulheres, selecionados a partir dos seguintes critérios: mesmo ramo de atividade, ou seja, todos são professores aposentados do ensino superior da rede pública, com até dez anos de aposentadoria, e que continuaram a trabalhar depois de aposentados. A abordagem utilizada no estudo foi de natureza qualitativa. Foram utilizados dois instrumentos de coleta de dados: um questionário denominado Ficha de Informações Gerais (FIG) e uma entrevista semi-estruturada, abordando os temas relacionados a trabalho, educação, aposentadoria e velhice/envelhecimento. Os homens e as mulheres entrevistados atribuíram significados semelhantes a trabalho e aposentadoria, assim como viveram a experiência da aposentadoria de modo similar. Isso talvez tenha acontecido em decorrência das características do grupo pesquisado, já que todos são professores universitários da rede pública de ensino e estão inseridos num contexto de trabalho particular a uma área do conhecimento, passando por experiências nesse contexto, aproximando a vivência de eventos como a aposentadoria, enquanto experiência singular / Abstract: This study had the objective of knowing the retirement experience of a group of men and women who are retired teachers of the Institute of Biology of Unicamp, in order to understand the expectations generated by those subjects at this time of their lives and to understand the work, retirement and age relationship in the context of the reality in which they are part; knowing the path of labor life of that group, identifying the meanings attributed to the work and retirement, in a way to evaluate the retirement experience, event that marks the existence in the work world; identifying the perception of those subjects in relation to their current life after they got in the retirement universe, understanding how they structured the life in this new phase, knowing which changes happened and when the life projects came true. The central presupposition of this study was based in the idea that retired men and women give different meanings for work and retirement influencing the retirement experience that is lived in a different and in a non-desired way, reflecting, excessively, in the subsequent phase, the maturity. The subject were three men and three women selected from the following criteria: same activity area ¿ retired teachers from the public academic education; with up to ten years of time elapsed from the retirement and continuity in the work after retired. The approach used in the study was of qualitative nature. Two instruments of data collection were used: the questionnaire denominated Record of General Information (Ficha de Informações Gerais - FIG) and a semi-structured interview, that was around the theme work, education, retirement, caducity/growing old. The men and the women interviewed attributed similar meanings to work and retirement, as well as lived the retirement experience in a similar way, what could have been influenced by the researched group characteristics, that being academic teachers of the public net of education and inserted in a private work context to an area of the knowledge, passed through similar experiences in the work context in what they are, when the existences of events as the retirement come closer, as a singular experience / Mestrado / Gerontologia / Mestre em Gerontologia
