Previous issue date: 2009-09-08 / Based on the empirical comparative study between two churches from Pentecostal guidance - both located in Parnamirim/RN - and supported on a dialogic interaction between my interlocutors and theoretical references, I proposed me to reflect about how this protestant segment represents and articulates questions such as gender and power relationships, and the daily impact of that in their followers life. In other words, this dissertation aims to understand the reason of the asymmetry attributed to male and female, especially in what concerns the distribution of ecclesiastic works and the authority given to male, as well as the implication of this reality in the reconfiguration of morality and religious praxis in daily life of individuals and involved groups. From this perspective, this work was divided in three chapters, in which I investigate the tension/relationship between faith and secularism, for from this question on concessions and/or prohibitions related to the limits and involvement of the followers with the world and with the very Pentecostal ethos arise. I also analyze here aspects concerning to both ecclesiastic hierarchy and power, with the objective of elucidating how it occurs, what kind of criteria and implications they consider as well as about the nature of the religious labor division between men and women and, finally, I try to understand how the conversion/adhesion of members is reflected in the redefinitions of gender and its relationship between the ecclesiastical and domestic spaces. The diligence and energy spent in this work is in the hope that its fruits can corroborate in the expansion of anthropological knowledge which, in this particular case, involves the Brazilian Pentecostal phenomenon / Partindo do estudo emp?rico comparativo entre duas igrejas de orienta??o pentecostal ambas situadas no munic?pio de Parnamirim/RN e amparado numa perspectiva de intera??o dial?gica entre meus interlocutores e referenciais, propusme refletir como este segmento protestante representa ou articula quest?es de g?nero e rela??es de poder, e a repercuss?o disto no cotidiano de seus fi?is. Noutros termos, esta disserta??o objetiva entender o porqu? da assimetria atribu?da aos sexos masculino e feminino, sobretudo, no que tange ? distribui??o dos of?cios eclesi?sticos e a autoridade hegemonicamente conferida aos homens, assim como a implica??o desta realidade na reconfigura??o da moralidade e da pr?xis religiosa no cotidiano dos sujeitos e grupos envolvidos. Sob esta perspectiva, o presente trabalho foi subdividido em tr?s cap?tulos, nos quais investigo a tens?o/rela??o entre f? e seculariza??o, pois a partir desta problem?tica decorrem concess?es e/ou interditos relativos aos limites e envolvimento dos fi?is com o mundo que os cerca e com o pr?prio ethos pentecostal; tamb?m analiso aspectos concernentes ? hierarquia e poder eclesi?sticos, tencionando elucidar como se processa, quais os crit?rios e implica??es e a natureza da divis?o do trabalho religioso entre homens e mulheres; e, por fim, procuro entender como a convers?o/ades?o se reflete nas redefini??es de g?nero e sua rela??o entre os espa?os eclesi?stico e domiciliar. A dilig?ncia e energia despendidas nesta obra ancoram-se na esperan?a de que seus frutos corroborem na amplia??o do saber antropol?gico, que, no caso espec?fico, envolve o fen?meno pentecostal brasileiro.
