Previous issue date: 2006 / Resumo: Esta dissertação tem o objetivo de discutir sobre as transformações que têm ocorrido nas estratégias das empresas em relação ao gerenciamento de recursos hídricos. Para isso, avaliam-se as pressões que a sociedade, a concorrência, os custos e a legislação exercem sobre as empresas. A validação do gerenciamento foi efetuada por meio do estudo de casos em seis indústrias que praticam estratégias em resposta às pressões. Além disso, questiona-se a participação do setor gestor, fiscalizando e conscientizando da problemática que envolve a água. Os resultados obtidos, dentro dos setores pesquisados, foram bastante satisfatórios com a proposta de saber se as pressões que levam às respostas conduzem a resultados positivos em relação à água. O potencial de redução no consumo através do uso racional e do reuso existem em maior ou menor intensidade nos casos analisados. Conclui-se que as pressões são responsáveis por toda mudança no gerenciamento de recursos hídricos e que o processo de integração entre o setor produtivo e o gestor ainda se encontra na fase embrionária, ficando evidente que as ações multiparticipativas conduzem aos melhores resultados. As principais conclusões em síntese são: - As pressões referentes às conformidades legais, à imagem empresarial e os custos são as principais motivadoras para o gerenciamento racional da água. - Dentre os instrumentos adotados para o uso racional destaca-se a auditoria, o monitoramento e a avaliação de impacto ambiental. - Dentre os programas de gerenciamento destaca-se as certificações, os programas de prevenção à poluição e o reuso de água. - Identifica-se em processo inicial as parcerias entre os setores públicos e privados / Abstract: This dissertation has the aim of discuss the transformations that have been taking place in the strategies of the businesses with regard to the management of hydric resources. For that, the effects exerted by the society pressures, the competition, the costs and the legislation in the businesses are evaluated. The management validation was made through cases studies in six industries which ones practice strategies to reply the pressures. Besides, it is questioned the management sector participation, supervising and getting aware about the problems that involve water. The obtained results, in the researched sectors, were satisfactory to know if the pressures, which conduct the replies, head positive results about the uses of water. The potential of reduction in the consumption through of reasonable use and reuse exist in oscillating intensities of the analyzed cases. It follows that the pressures are responsible for all changes in the management of hydric resources and the process of integration between the productive sector and the management sector is still in embryonic phase, becoming evident that the multi participated actions conduct to the best results. The principal conclusions, in short, are: - The pressures relating to the legal conformities, the business image and the costs are the principal reasons to the rational water management. - Between the adopted instruments for the rational use are detached the audit, the inspections and the appraisal of the environment impact. - Between the management programs are detached the certifications, the pollution prevention programs and the reuse of water. - It's possible to realie that the partnerships between the private and the public sectors are growing / Mestrado / Administração e Politica de Recursos Minerais / Mestre em Geociências
