Em meio a este contexto, na atualidade desenvolvem-se iniciativas de superação desta degradação, como a que ocorre em Presidente Prudente-SP, com a atuação da Cooperativa de Trabalhadores em Produtos Recicláveis (COOPERLIX). Esta, com sede no Distrito Industrial, é constituída por ex-catadores do lixão do município e corresponde a uma das ações planejadas e desenvolvidas no projeto Educação Ambiental e Gerenciamento dos Resíduos Sólidos em Presidente Prudente-SP: desenvolvimento de metodologias para a coleta seletiva, beneficiamento do lixo e organização do trabalho, inserido no Programa de Políticas Públicas da FAPESP. Nesta pesquisa, intitulada Educação Ambiental e Resíduos Sólidos: a ação da COOPERLIX, abordou-se a ocorrência de problemas sócio-ambientais constituídos historicamente, relacionados à exclusão social e à disposição inadequada de resíduos sólidos. Analisou-se o processo de criação e atuação da COOPERLIX na mobilização da sociedade, através de ações de Educação Ambiental, e suas possíveis influências na ampliação da coleta seletiva e melhoria da qualidade sócio-ambiental da população. Para tanto, realizou-se levantamento bibliográfico com fundamentação teórica.... / The progressive generation of solid residues, the unbridled use of the natural resources, the inadequated disposition of the solid residues and the social exclusion, marked by the planning lack and the insertion in the public power priorities constitute social- environmental order problens with serious consequences for the population's quality life. Accordingly that context, at the present time, initiatives of superation of this degratation are developed, as the one that happens in Presidente Prudente-SP, with the performance of the Cooperlix- Workers' Cooperative in Recycled Products. That, with seat in the Industrial District, it's composed by ex-recollecters' municipal garbage deposit and corresponds to the one planned actions and developed in the project Environmental Education and Manager of the Solid Residues in Presidente Prudente-SP: development of the methodologies for the selective collection, gorbage benefitiation and labor organization, inserted in the Fapesp Public Politics Program. In this research, entitled Environmental Education and Solid Residues: the Cooperlix's action, it's approached the occurence of social- environmental problems historically constituted, related to the social exclusion and to the inadequated disposition of solid residues.
