Collaboration is a tool many organizations use to achive a certain goal. In previous research it can be read about both advantages and disadvantages of collaboration and also that a well-functioning collaboration is difficult to achieve. In previous research there is a shortage of scientific researches illustrating the outcome of collaboration. I have chosen to examine the cooperation between the social services and schools of the municipality of Växjö. The purpose of this essay is to understand what experiences staff working with children/young people in school and social services have of collaboration between each others organizations. And what they think about the importance of collaboration for the pupil/client. I have used a qualitative method and carried out individual interviews as well as focus group interviews. Altogether I accomplished two individual interviews and two focus group interviews. In order to analyze my empiricism I have used Kvale's (1997) process of interpretation and applied the new institutional theory of organization. As the theory is extensive I have chosen to focus on certain parts which are: organizational fields, business domain, consensus domain and conflict domain. In my analysis I have come to the conclusion that informants in school and people in social services have different views on the collaboration in between them. Their experiences are however that an effective interaction leads to positive effects for both the child/the young and for the professionals themselves. Today however they experience that the cooperation between the organizations has a lack of common goals and expectations.
