Bakgrund: Sjuksköterskor ställs inför svåra situationer i vård av barn inom palliativ vård. Syfte: Syftet med studien var att beskriva sjuksköterskans upplevelser av att vårda barn som befinner sig i livets slutskede samt att granska undersökningsgruppen i de inkluderande artiklarna. Metod: En deskriptiv litteraturstudie baserad på 11 vetenskapliga artiklar som söktes via databaserna Cinahl, PsycINFO och sökmotorn PubMed samt genom en manuell sökning. Huvudresultat: Vårdandet av barn som befann sig i livets slutskede hade en emotionell påverkan på sjuksköterskan. Osäkerhet i yrkesrollen kunde upplevas, stöd och utbildning inom pediatrisk palliativ vård efterfrågades därför av sjuksköterskorna för ökad kompetens samt för att kunna hantera de känslor som kan uppstå i arbetet. Undersökningsgruppen, totalt 173, i de inkluderade artiklarna bestod främst av sjuksköterskor med ingen erfarenhet till minst 2 års erfarenhet inom pediatrisk palliativ vård. Slutsats: Sjuksköterskor påverkas av alla känslor som uppstår i samband med vårdandet av barn som är i behov av palliativ vård, för att kunna bearbeta sina känslor och därmed ge bra vård till barnet och barnets familj behöver sjuksköterskan stöd. / Background: Nurses are confronted with difficult situations in the care of children in palliative care. Aim: The purpose with this study was to describe the nurse´s experience on treating children who are in the final stage right before their lives end, and to view the sample groups that are being examined in the included articles. Method: A descriptive literature study based on 11 scientific articles which were found on the databases Cinahl, PsycINFO and on the searching tool PubMed, and also via manual searching. Main result: Treating children, whom are in the end of their lives, had an emotional impact on the nurse. Insecurity in the professional role was experienced, and therefor support and training in palliative care for children was requested among the nurses, it was desired because they wanted to increase their skills and also to be able to handle the emotions that can rise in that sort of work. The sample group, a total of 173 participants, in the included articles mainly consisted of nurses with no experience to at least 2 years experience in pediatric palliative care. Conclusion: Nurses are effected by all the emotions that occur when treating children that are in need of palliative care. To be able to handle their own emotions and thereby be able to give good care to the child and the child’s family, the nurses need support.
