Previous issue date: 2009-06-10 / This research investigated the forms of traditional knowledge in a littoral community, from the use of the natural resources, its way of life and observed as this knowledge was transformed through the generations for the formal knowledge, evidencing importance of this traditional knowledge - passed through the generations, of empirical form - and its transformation for the formal knowledge (education, technology and innovation), describing of that it forms can be incorporated the way of traditional production of the fishing of the Island of God, making possible the socioeconomics, ambient and cultural changes in this community. The research also mapear the social reality of the families who inhabit the locality, identifying the main traditional knowledge analyzing the origin of these knowledge and discovering as they had been transmitted, looking for to understand as these traditional knowledge, joined to the technology and the formal knowledge they can contribute with the local economy and to the support, exactly with decurrently ambient impacts of the pollution. / Esta pesquisa investigou as formas de conhecimentos tradicionais em uma comunidade litorânea, a partir do uso dos recursos naturais, seu modo de vida e observou como este conhecimento foi transformado através das gerações pelo conhecimento formal, evidenciando a importância deste conhecimento tradicional - passado através das gerações, de forma empírica – e sua transformação pelo conhecimento formal (educação, tecnologia e inovação), descrevendo de que forma ele pode ser incorporado ao modo de produção tradicional dos pescadores da Ilha de Deus, possibilitando mudanças socioeconômicas, ambientais e culturais nesta comunidade. A pesquisa também mapeou a realidade social das famílias que habitam a localidade, identificando os principais conhecimentos tradicionais analisando a origem destes conhecimentos e descobrindo como foram transmitidos, procurando entender como estes conhecimentos tradicionais, unidos à tecnologia e ao conhecimento formal podem contribuir com a economia local e à sustentabilidade, mesmo com impactos ambientais decorrentes da poluição.
