I detta examensarbete har en analys genomförts av hur kvinnornas arbetssituation i dagslägetser ut i byggsektorn. Byggbranschen är idag nästan helt mansdominerad, andelen kvinnor somär anställda inom byggsektorn är nio procent och i takt med att Sverige växer behövs detkompetent arbetskraft. Problemet med enkönade branscher är att de oftast lider av snävaperspektiv, exkluderande jargonger, minskad produktivitet och bristandekompetensutveckling. Syftet med denna studien är således att skapa en förståelse kringkvinnornas arbetssituation och deras karriärmöjligheter för att sedan ta fram underlag på hurman kan göra byggindustrin mer attraktiv för kvinnor. Studiens frågeställningar besvaradesmed semistrukturerade intervjuer och mailintervjuer med kvinnor inom byggsektorn.Resultatet sammanställdes därefter för att kunna analyseras utifrån den givna teorin.Studien visade att flera kvinnor upplevde att de var respekterade och uppskattade av sinamanliga kollegor men samtidigt kunde de också dagligen finna motstånd och hinder. Flerakvinnor som deltog i studien var exempelvis enade om att de exkluderades enbart på grund avderas kön. Dessutom att deras karriärmöjligheter inte alltid stämde överens med deraskompetens.Trots att utvecklingen i dagsläget går framåt, finns det flera åtgärder som bör ske för att skapaett mer tryggt och välkomnande arbetsklimat för kvinnor. Studien resulterade i ett antalåtgärder för att göra kvinnornas situation inom byggsektorn mer attraktiv och inkluderandegenom att företagen genomgår externa och interna förändringar. / In this master thesis an analysis has been made about how the women’s work situationcurrently looks in the construction sector. Today the construction industry is almost entirelymale-dominated where the percentage of women employed in the construction industry countsto nine percent. At the same time the necessity for competent labor is growing. There areseveral problems that occurs when an industry is dominated by one gender, problems asnarrow perspectives, excluding jargons, decreased productivity as well as lack of skilldevelopment. Hence, the aim of the study is to create an understanding of women’s worksituation and careers but also to create a basis of how the construction industry can becomemore attractive for women. The issue of the study has been answered by interviews withwomen who are working within the industry today. Thereafter, the results have been puttogether and was analyzed based on the given theory of the study.The study shows that several women have had experiences of being respected and appreciatedby their male colleagues but could also feel that there where opposition and obstacles due totheir gender. Several women in the study agreed about that their exclusion was solely becauseof their gender and that their career opportunities did not always match their skills.Although the current situation is improving there are measures that should be taken intoconsideration to create a more secure and welcoming working environment for women. Thusthe study resulted in a number of measures to make women’s work situation in theconstruction industry more attractive. It also has been included methods for companies todevelop both external and internal changes.
