Previous issue date: 2016 / Esta tese tem como fio condutor a trajetória de Pedrina de Lourdes Santos como capitã de congado. Além de capitã, Pedrina é espírita kardecista, realiza reuniões de umbanda em sua casa, faz atendimentos espirituais na cidade de Oliveira e frequenta o candomblé. A capitã também é frequentemente solicitada para falar em seminários, festivais, oficinas e congressos sobre suas experiências e seus conhecimentos. Embora o contexto do universo da pesquisa tenha sido o congado, o trabalho acabou sendo recortado por diversos espaços, tendo em vista a própria característica do sujeito da pesquisa, uma pessoa ecumênica, como ela mesmo se define. Guiada pelos movimentos de Pedrina segui o seu percurso, o que me levou a percorrer diferentes sítios e trajetos numa complexa rede tramada entre confluências de práticas, processos e conexões. Isso me obrigou a sair da lógica de se pensar o religioso a partir de doutrinas, instituições e rituais e a focar na experiência e na vivência de Pedrina. Embora eu tenha ido a campo perseguindo a trajetória de Pedrina, conhecê-la implicou acessar toda uma rede familiar que vai muito além da sua família biológica e envolve uma rede de relações sociais tecidas no reinado, na umbanda, no kardecismo e no candomblé; uma rede que entrelaça a trajetória de Pedrina com seres deste e de outros mundos, como os santos católicos, as entidades da umbanda, os nkisis do candomblé e os espíritos desencarnados do kardecismo. Esta não é, portanto, uma tese sobre o Reinado de Nossa Senhora do Rosário ou congado em Minas Gerais, nem sobre o congado da cidade de Oliveira, muito menos uma biografia de Pedrina. É o resultado de uma relação construída entre pesquisadora e pesquisada durante um determinado período da vida de ambas. O congado na vida de Pedrina é lugar de encruzilhada, de interseção de todas as suas vivências religiosas, não para fundir tudo numa unidade, mas para seguirem enquanto pluralidades, numa lógica que não anula as diferenças. A participação em seminários acadêmicos, encontros, festivais e congressos também permite a Pedrina chamar a atenção de pesquisadores, artistas, políticos, produtores culturais, entre outros, para o lugar das manifestações culturais afro-brasileiras. Nestes encontros, a capitã amplia sua rede e legitima o seu congado. Um congado próprio, particular, resultado dos diferentes trânsitos pelos quais ela circula. O que está grafado nas páginas a seguir se traduz na forma como eu conto a história que me foi contada; não só por Pedrina, mas também pelos sujeitos (desse e de outros mundos) que estão à sua volta.<br> / Abstract : The present thesis is build around the life trajectory of Pedrina de Lourdes Santos, a captain of congado, a cultural and religious Afro-Brazilian tradition. But Pedrina is not only a congado captain, she is also a spiritist kardecist, she conducts umbanda?s gatherings at her house, she gives spiritual consultations in Oliveira city and she practices camdomblé. The captain is also frequently invited to give talks at seminars, workshops, festivals and congresses about her experiences and to share her knowledge. Although, in a first moment, the context of the research was just the congado, the final research ended up crossing various spaces, because of the characteristics of the subject of the research, who is, in her own words, an ecumenical person. I followed Pedrina and, guided by her movements, I wandered through different sites and trajectories, finding a complex web, weaved in between a flux of practices, processes and connections. This movement has made me abandon the logic of thinking about the religious as doctrines, institutions and rituals; instead, the focus is on Pedrina?s lived experience. Even though I started the research following Pedrina?s trajectory, to meet her meant to access a kinship network that surpasses her biological family and encompasses a network of social relations weaved in the reign of congado, in the umbanda, kardecism and candomblé. This network links Pedrina?s trajectory to beings from this and other worlds, such as catholic saints, umbanda?s entities, the nkisis of candomblé, and the disembodied spirits of kardecism. Therefore, this is neither a thesis about the Reign of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, nor the congado in Minas Gerais, nor it is about the congado in Oliveira city. Neither it is a biography of Pedrina herself. This thesis is the result of a relationship built between the researcher and her subject during a period of their lives. The congado in Pedrina?s life is the crossroad, the intersection of all of her religious experiences. And these experiences are not all fused into a unity, but they come together and continue as pluralities, following a logic that does not cancel differences. Her participation in seminars, festival and congresses allows her to draw the attention of the researches, politicians and producers to the Afro-Brazilian manifestations. These are opportunities to the captain to broaden her network and to legitimize her congado. A congado which is quite unique, the result of her movements through various places. What I present in the following pages could be translated as the way I tell a story that was told me, not only by Pedrina, but also by the other subjects (from this and other worlds) that surround her.
