Previous issue date: 2015-08-04 / Conselho Nacional de Pesquisa e Desenvolvimento Cient?fico e Tecnol?gico - CNPq / The Regionalism from Rio Grande do Sul and the regionalist literature that set the tone for this movement were, from the early twentieth century, objects of several researches that generated a lot of interpretations. An ever-present discussion in those works concerns the relationship between the regional and national, in which the constitution of the regional's identity would have conducted through or not, differentiation toward the Brazilian identity. In other words, the contours between the regional affirmation and the inserting in the Brazilian nation were never very clear. As a result, this characteristic has always generated much controversy, from no academic studies to those developed in the university academic environment. In this context, the polygraph Apolin?rio Porto Alegre comes and, according to historiography from Rio Grande do Sul, he would have been the trigger, from the second half of the nineteenth, of the Ga?cho regionalism. On the other hand, the same historiography, especially after the academic specialization, began pointing that he had concerns about the Brazilian nationality in his horizon. Therefore, this work is inserted in the middle of these hazy historiographical discourses, seeking to ascertain the relationship between the Ga?cho regionalism and Brazilian nationalism in Apolinario Porto Alegre. / O Regionalismo ga?cho e a literatura regionalista que deu o tom a esse movimento foram, desde o in?cio do s?culo XX, objetos de in?meras pesquisas que geraram uma grande quantidade de interpreta??es. Uma discuss?o sempre presente nesses trabalhos diz respeito ? rela??o que se d? entre o ?mbito regional e o nacional, no qual a constitui??o da identidade ga?cha teria se realizado atrav?s, ou n?o, da diferencia??o para com a identidade brasileira. Em outras palavras, os contornos entre a afirma??o regional e a inser??o ? na??o brasileira nunca foram muito claros. Em raz?o disso, tal caracter?stica sempre gerou muito controv?rsia, desde os estudos n?o acad?micos at? aqueles desenvolvidos no ?mbito acad?mico universit?rio. Nesse contexto, entra o pol?grafo Apolin?rio Porto Alegre que, segundo a historiografia sul-rio-grandense, teria sido o desencadeador, a partir da segunda metade do XIX, do Regionalismo ga?cho. Por outro lado, a mesma historiografia, principalmente ap?s a especializa??o universit?ria, come?ou a apontar ind?cios de que aquele escritor tinha em seu horizonte preocupa??es com a nacionalidade brasileira. Portanto, esse trabalho se insere em meio a esses nebulosos discursos historiogr?ficos, buscando averiguar a rela??o entre o Regionalismo ga?cho e o nacionalismo brasileiro em Apolin?rio Porto Alegre.
