Previous issue date: 2010-03-10 / This study has the purpose to analyze the tutor role on the conception of different authors and the defended Dissertations and Thesis on the Postgraduate programs in the country available at Thesis Database Capes. This new reality shows, initially, that the distance education promises to be based in interpretative, qualitative, descriptive and subjective investigations, with explicit values, fundamentally on reality, to promote the discovery and knowledge exploration. We also propose, therefore, to verify that this role is attributed to the tutor of distance education on thesis and dissertations developed on the Postgraduate programs in Brazil. By the methodological point of view the study consists of the following fases: a) Constitution of the research theory-methodological referential, through an explanation about the distance education, its importance in teacher education and professional. The methodological referential will embrace the bibliometric approach. b) Data collecting on the Thesis Database Capes, to identify the scientific production in distance education, focusing on the tutor role of distance education. c) Description and categorization of the data collection using automatic tools for the construct scientific production indicators. d) Analysis and interpretation of the results through of the bibliometric approaches and the theoretical research. The results of this research shows that the tutor, this new kind of professional, needs differential abilities, cognitive, interpersonal, dialogic and technical, acting with technique and pedagogic ability the mediation role, of fundamental relevance, on the construction of the meaningful learning and collaborative of distance education. Therefore, with this work we have contributed to the Education Area through the systematization of the reflections and ideas about the pedagogic role of the tutor of distance education. / Este estudo tem como objetivo analisar o papel atribuído ao tutor de EAD na concepção de diferentes autores e com base nas teses e dissertações defendidas em Programas de Pós-Graduação do país e disponíveis no Banco de Teses da CAPES. Essa nova realidade demonstra, inicialmente, que a EAD promete embasar-se na investigação interpretativa, qualitativa, descritiva e subjetiva, com valores explícitos, fundamentados na realidade, para favorecer a descoberta e a exploração do conhecimento. Propõe-se, portanto, verificar que este papel é atribuído ao tutor de EAD nas teses e dissertações desenvolvidas nos Programas de Pós-Graduação no Brasil. Do ponto de vista metodológico o estudo compõe-se das seguintes fases: a) Constituição do referencial teórico-metodológico da pesquisa, através de uma explanação sobre a Educação a Distância, sua importância na formação de professores e profissionais. O referencial metodológico abrangerá a abordagem bibliométrica; b) Coleta de dados no Banco de Teses da CAPES, para identificação da produção científica em Educação a Distância, com foco no papel do tutor de EAD; c) Descrição e categorização dos dados levantados utilizando ferramentas automatizadas para a construção de indicadores de produção científica. d) Análise e interpretação dos resultados obtidos realizadas à luz das abordagens bibliométrica e do referencial teórico da pesquisa. O resultado dessa pesquisa mostra que o tutor, esse novo profissional, necessita de habilidades diferenciadas, de ordem cognitiva, interpessoal, dialógica e técnica, exercendo com competência técnica e pedagógica o papel de mediação, de fundamental relevância, na construção da aprendizagem significativa e colaborativa na EAD. Portanto, com esse trabalho esperamos ter contribuído para a área de Educação através da sistematização das reflexões e idéias sobre o papel do tutor de EAD.
