Previous issue date: 2014-06-06 / Coordena??o de Aperfei?oamento de Pessoal de N?vel Superior - CAPES / We? re trying to anilyze the Feira de Santana?s history, from the perspective of the progress in urbanization and modernization since the republic of Brazil, mainly between 1940 and 1960. When by this time happened a big production of territories, and changed the urban area. We are focusing the street called ? complexo Rua do Rua?, formed by the current streets ?Marechal Deodoro da Fonseca, Sales Barbosa and its alleys. Where used to be a place of illicit activities as illegal games and prostitution, when was morally condemned by the local elite. So this area was considered prohibited and dangerous in the city, and these people were seen as a big problem for its progress. By this way our problematic is how to interact people and their territory, forming a kind of social metonymic. This imbrication is so intense, that the local people and the area are confused in a mutual process of construction. So the focus of the discussion is about how the local, that was marked by illegal situation, passed by an urban modernization. Even more, how the local people received the coercive method imposed by the administration of the city. However how this area is known as a forbidden and dangerous cursed zone.
