Klimat- ochkostnadsberäkningarför ROT-projekt : Åtgärdsalternativ i ROT-projekt och undersökning avden högsta koldioxidreduktionen per krona.

The construction and property sector is responsible for a major part of the total amount ofgreenhouse gases released into the atmosphere. Causes for this include the lack of knowledgeregarding the subject, as well as the fact that considering greenhouse gases tends to be lesseconomically profitable. This is due to the fact that the amount of resources required forreplacement exceeds the amount necessary for maintenance and renovation. In collaborationwith Svenska Bostäder, a company that prioritises reducing the climate impact of its constructionprocesses, this thesis was accomplished. In order to thoroughly assess the costs in regard to thecarbon dioxide emissions of three separate building parts; balconies, windows and the exterior,an Excel-tool was assembled. The equations created are based of an example apartmentcomplex from the 1960’s along with carbon dioxide equivalence data collected from the climatedatabase of Boverket and cost data gathered from the company Planima. Using the equationspresented in the Excel, results concerning different measure alternatives were obtained. For measures in which several materials are necessary, a percentage distribution of the variousmeasures is specified, thus enabling calculations with further accuracy. The results presentedshows the total amount of carbon dioxide equivalent alongside the total costs, as well as acomparison between them both. The window calculations proved that replacing the currentwindows with wood/aluminium windows is the costliest, both from an economical andenvironmental point of view. Renovating the existing wood windows is the most profitablealternative, taking both aspects into consideration. Regarding the balcony calculations, the resultsprovided claims that replacement of the current balcony with a sheet metal railing and steel beamsis the more costly option, environmentally as well as economically. Replacing the already existingsheet metal railing to a newer sheet metal railing is the least expensive, while replacing the railingwith a glass substitute is the most environmentally friendly measure. Calculations of the exteriorfacade showed that replacing the plaster façade has the greatest climate and economic impact.
