Utveckling av en kroppsburen taktil hörenhet / Development of a Tactile Hearing Unit

The report “User adaptation of tactile hearing aids” written by Anton Mellgren describes a product development project in the course: Bachelor thesis for the engineering program innovation technology and design MSGC12 at Karlstad University. The work follows the product development process in the phases project planning, feasibility study, specification, concept generation, concept selection, construction and project completion have been completed. The project was carried out on behalf of Invencon ab who previously worked and developed prototypes of a tactile hearing aid. Today, there are many deaf people who suffer from deafness. The main tool today is coach implants that are operated on the brain. Unfortunately, not everyone can take advantage of this as it is high cost and long recovery time. This means that there is a gap in the market today about aids for deaf people especially in poor countries. Research conducted between 1950 and 1995 indicates that actuators can stimulate the skin to enable deaf people to learn and perceive sounds. Invencon has previously developed an actuator concept but which currently does not work on a large enough scale to result in any finished product. Based on feasibility study, market research, competition analysis, this resulted in a product specification where requirements and wishes were set and weighted. Through the product development process, a number of concepts were created on both the technology and the design, which were then sold to present to Invencon for a concept choice that was also based on the product specification and the elimination matrix. The concepts were made both in model form as well as sketching on paper. A definitive concept was discussed, among other things, with Invencon and individually. The final concept was a combination of two concepts, where the technology should sit and what the design should look like. Then a 3D model was created in the Creo program to better visualize the concept and a clearer overview. Further work needs to be done with connections of input electronics as well as design drawings and testing of a full-scale prototype
