The present study, based on the theoretical assumptions of French Discourse Analysis, aims
to investigate the Photography as news, and in this way, to understand how the politic marks
itself on President Dilma Rousseff’s images, published in the "O Estado de São Paulo"
newspaper and in the "Isto É" magazine, during the process of impeachment, in 2016,
producing (de)construction effects of her image. For this study we mobilize the notions of
discursive memory, repeatability, paraphrase and silencing, just as we look at the historicity
and at the conditions of production of journalistic photography. The images in matter break
with a historically stabilized process regarding the photos of other presidents of Brazil and
show at the same time a process of repetition and discursive contradiction. The photos of
President Dilma Rousseff, which circulated through the press, show that we live in a sexist
social organization, which in addition to disqualifying her image, still maintains the idea of a

Previous issue date: 2017 / A presente pesquisa, realizada a partir dos pressupostos teóricos da Análise do Discurso da
linha francesa, se propõe a investigar a fotografia como notícia e, dessa forma, entender
como o político se marca em fotos da presidenta Dilma Rousseff. O corpus é composto de
fotos publicadas no jornal O Estado de São Paulo e na revista Isto É, em 2016. Para
compreender os sentidos produzidos na imagem da presidenta Dilma Rousseff foram
mobilizadas as noções de memória discursiva, repetibilidade, paráfrase e silenciamento,
assim como se olhou para a historicidade e para as condições de produção das fotos
jornalísticas. As fotos em questão reiteram um processo já estabilizado historicamente em
relação a outros presidentes do Brasil e marcam, ao mesmo tempo, um processo de
repetição. As fotografias da presidenta Dilma Rousseff, que circularam na imprensa,
mostram que ainda se vive em uma organização social machista, que além de desqualificar a
sua imagem, ainda mantem sentidos de uma política patriarcal, em que as mulheres são
interditadas dos poderes decisórios.
