Previous issue date: 2005 / A Endodontia é uma especialidade da Odontologia que requer muita atenção
por parte dos profissionais por sua especificidade. No curso de Odontologia da
Universidade Metropolitana de Santos, a Disciplina de Endodontia é bastante
atuante e com resultados positivos, apesar de algumas dificuldades no
Processo Ensino-Aprendizagem. O ensino de Endodontia passa por
transformações assim como toda a Odontologia. Fazem-se necessárias então,
algumas mudanças, mas para tal é preciso identificar as possibilidades e
limitações do Processo Ensino-Aprendizagem na disciplina de Endodontia.
Objetivamos, portanto, analisar este Processo através da ótica de docentes e
discentes e assim caracterizar o ensino da Endodontia, no que se refere a
conteúdos, carga horária, momento de inserção no currículo, relação teoria e
prática e formação docente, além de verificar aproximações entre o programa
de Endodontia e as Diretrizes Curriculares Nacionais. Como referencial teórico,
usamos como suporte a história da Odontologia e da Endodontia, o ensino da
Odontologia e a inserção da Endodontia e as mudanças no ensino superior
brasileiro. O estudo teve a participação de 48 alunos que concluíram a
Disciplina de Endodontia, respondendo a um questionário e de três professores
que, através de a uma entrevista semi-estruturada, manifestaram suas
opiniões, limites e possibilidades da disciplina de Endodontia para a formação
do cirurgião dentista bem como facilidades/dificuldades no Processo EnsinoAprendizagem.
Os dados quantitativos são apresentados sob a forma de gráficos e os dados
qualitativos foram divididos em núcleos temáticos. Concluímos que alguns
pontos foram bastante esclarecedores outros deixaram algumas questões a
serem respondidas e, quem sabe, nos fazer buscar soluções. Quanto ao
aprendizado, obtivemos resultados positivos e, ao mesmo tempo constatamos
pontos de fragilidade nas relações professor/aluno e no quesito avaliação. / Endodontics is an area that requires a lot of the professional’s attention due to
its specificity. The course on Endodontics at the Faculty of Dentistry of the
Metropolitan University of Santos is very prominent with good results, in spite of
some difficulties involving the teaching-learning process. The teaching of
Endodontics is going through transformations, along with that of the Dentistry
course. A few changes are necessary but, in order to do that, the possibilities
and limitations of the teaching-learning process of Endodontics must be
identified. The aim of this study is to analyze the process from the point of view
of the teachers and the students so as to characterize the teaching of
Endodontics regarding its content, the amount of time alloted to it, its point of
insertion in the curriculum, the relationship between theory and practice, and
the Curricula Directives. This study relies upon the History of Dentistry and
Endodontics, the teaching of it and its insertion and the changes of College
teaching in Brazil. Forty eight students who had already finished the course and
three of the teachers giving the course took part in the study. The students
answered a questionnaire and the teachers took part in a semi-structured
enterview expressed their opinions, the limitations and the possibilities of the
course of Endodontics in the dental surgeon education, as well as the
facilities/difficulties of the teaching-learning process.The quantitative data are
presented in graphs and the qualitative data were separated into thematic
groups. Some of the points were very revealing, while others opened up new
issues to be looked at and, hopefully, to find solutions for. As to the teaching,
the results were positive end at the same time, a few weak aspects were
identified in the student-teacher relationship and evaluation. / BV UNIFESP: Teses e dissertações
