Previous issue date: 2017-05-29 / A fragmenta??o urbana ? um fen?meno recente que se propaga no mundo inteiro. Tem como um dos seus principais sintomas a cria??o de dist?ncias f?sicas e simb?licas. Especificamente, esse fen?meno muito se relaciona ? crescente polariza??o entre o mundo p?blico e privado, que culmina na quebra da conex?o f?sica e simb?lica desses dois mundos. As cidades tamb?m apresentam velhos sintomas da autossegrega??o das camadas m?dias, muitas vezes associados aos chamados condom?nios fechados. Esses espa?os s?o oferecem fortifica??o e prote??o dos ?infort?nios? da cidade, bem como asseguram uma aparente qualidade de vida. O presente trabalho procura analisar, considerando a conex?o entre o local e o global, como um condom?nio fechado contribui para o fen?meno da fragmenta??o urbana, com base no estudo de caso do Condom?nio Jardim Atl?ntico, localizado na zona de conurba??o entre Natal/RN e Parnamirim/RN. Para considerar o global e o local, realiza a pesquisa aos moldes etnogr?ficos, especificamente a observa??o direta associada ? an?lise documental, e entrevistas qualitativas, associando sua totalidade ? din?mica da cidade. O estudo conclui que a din?mica interna do condom?nio junto ? din?mica da cidade exerce influ?ncia nas representa??es de seus moradores, o que acaba acentuado a distin??o entre o mundo p?blico e privado desses indiv?duos. Para eles, a cidade ? repleta de ilhotas organizadas de forma peculiar frente ao objeto p?blico, as quais s?o transit?veis por meio de seus ve?culos. Esses deslocamentos, junto ao desejo de se chegar a uma ilhota, formam verdadeiros hiatos que exprimem a nega??o da cidade. / The urban fragmentation is a recent phenomenon that spreads over the world. It has as the main characteristic physical and symbolical distances. Specifically, this phenomenon is related to the polarization that is growing between public and private world, resulting in the broken of physical and symbolical connection of those worlds. Cities also present old symptoms of media classes? self-segregation, many times associated to the closed condominiums. Those habitations give protection and strengthens from the ?treat? of the city, as well as they assure an apparent quality of life. This study aims to analyze, considering connection between local and global, how a closed condominium contributes to the phenomenon of urban fragmentation, based on case study of Jardim Atl?ntico condominium, situated between Natal and Parnamirim/RN. To consider global and local, it is an ethnographic research, specifically direct observation associated to the documental analyze, and qualitative interview related to the city dynamics. It concludes that condominium intern dynamic linked to the city dynamic have influence in the resident representations, that detaches differences between public and private world of those people. To them, the city is full of organized little islands in a peculiar way to the public object, made to pass through by their cars. Those routes connected to the desire to go to the little island are the real gaps that expresses city negation.
