På Årstafältet planeras en ny stadsdel med ett publikt urbant aktivitetsstråk, och vi vill ge vår skola en särställning i denna nya byggda kontext. Årstafältet är en storskalig horisontell plats, och kräver därför en större gest - något som sticker ut och bryter av det horisontella fältet. Att jobba på höjden kändes därför självklart och vertikalitet blev på så sätt ett viktigt ord. Byggnaden möter även landskapet genom att bli en förlängning och ett avslut på aktivitetsstråket. Det urbana livet och gatans aktivitet fortsätter in i byggnaden, och blir en nod och ett landmärke på platsen. Att byggnaden sträcker sig uppåt innebär också att en stor yta på tomten frigörs. Det givna programmet för den nya skolbyggnaden har rubriken ”Sport och skola”. Vi har valt att tolka ordet sport som aktivitet och rörelse, och detta har vi kopplat ihop med byggnadens vertikala grepp. Aktivitetstemat ramar in och genomsyrar hela byggnaden genom att en idrottshall är placerad längst ner, och en högst upp. Mellan dessa idrottshallar spänner olika typer av vertikal kommunikationer, som också börjar och avslutas i två läktare. I programmet uttrycks även en önskan om att byggnaden ska bli mer än bara en skola - det ska finnas plats för offentlighet och publika funktioner. Därför är byggnadens rum utformade och avsedda för att kunna användas på ett mångfunktionellt sätt. / A new district is planned at Årstafältet, with a public urban activity path. We want to give our school a special position in this newly built context. Årstafältet is a large-scale horizontal location, and therefore requires a larger gesture - something that stands out and breaks the horizontal field. To work at height therefore felt obvious for us and verticality became an important word in our work.The building also meets the landscape by being an extension and an end to the activity path. Urban life and street activity continues into the building, making the building a node and a landmark on the site. The fact that the building extends upwards also means that a large area on the site is released, therefore a piece of Årstafältet is kept.The given program for the new school building has the title "Sport and school". We have chosen to interpret the word sport as activity and movement, and this we have linked to the vertical grip of the building. The activity theme frames the entire building by the fact that an athletic hall is located at the bottom and one at the top. Between these sports halls, different types of vertical communications span, which also begin and end in two stands.The program also expresses the wish that the building should be more than just a school - there should be room for public functions. Therefore, the building's rooms are designed and intended to be used in a multifunctional manner.
