Previous issue date: 2017 / Um dos principais desafios da sociedade contemporânea tem sido a grande quantidade de geração de resíduos, dentre eles os Resíduos de Serviços de Saúde, uma vez que o manuseio e o gerenciamento inadequados contribuem para o aumento da taxa de infecção hospitalar e danos ao meio ambiente. Dessa forma, objetivou-se com o trabalho analisar o gerenciamento dos Resíduos de Serviços de Saúde de uma unidade hospitalar pública do Município de Sousa-PB, com base nas diretrizes estabelecidas pela Resolução Conselho Nacional do Meio Ambiente nº 358/05 e da Agência Nacional de Vigilância Sanitária Resolução nº 306/04. A metodologia da pesquisa pautou-se no estudo de caso, de caráter exploratório e descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, desenvolvido com profissionais da saúde e gestores no Hospital Público, no qual foram utilizados questionários semiestruturados e as informações foram registradas por meio de diário de pesquisa através de uma observação sistemática. Desse modo, verificou-se certo distanciamento entre o que é estabelecido pelas as normas jurídicas e as práticas realizadas na unidade, como a inexecução do Plano de Gerenciamento de Resíduos de Serviços de Saúde do Hospital. Foram verificadas também falhas e falta de eficácia e eficiência em determinadas etapas de gerenciamento dos resíduos, e ausência do tratamento prévio, desconhecimento e divergências, conhecimento insuficientemente sobre legislação, normas e regulamentos vigentes, o que permitiu perceber a necessidade de ajustes teórico-metodológicos e mudanças na atitude dos responsáveis pelos resíduos da unidade. Deste modo, pode-se concluir pela necessidade de realização de mudanças nos procedimentos e nos investimentos na área de gerenciamento de resíduos, para que se apliquem as normas vigentes. / One of the main challenges of contemporary society has been the great amount of waste generation, among them the Waste of Health Services, since inadequate handling and management contribute to the increase of hospital infection rate and damage to the environment. Thus, the objective of this study was to analyze the management of the Waste of Health Services of a public hospital unit of the Municipality of Sousa-PB, based on the guidelines established by the National Environmental Council Resolution No. 358/05 and the National Agency of Sanitary Surveillance Resolution nº 306/04. The research methodology was based on the exploratory and descriptive case study with a qualitative approach, developed with health professionals and managers at the Public Hospital, in which semistructured questionnaires were used and the information was recorded through a research diary through a systematic observation. Thus, there was a certain distance between what is established by the legal norms and the practices carried out in the unit, such as the non-implementation of the Health Services Waste Management Plan of the Hospital. Failures and lack of efficacy and efficiency in certain stages of waste management, lack of previous treatment, lack of knowledge and divergences, insufficient knowledge of existing legislation, norms and regulations were also verified, which allowed to realize the need for theoretical and methodological adjustments and changes in the attitude of those responsible for the unit's waste. In this way, it can be concluded that there is a need to make changes in the procedures and investments in the area of waste management, in order to apply the current regulations.
