Lokalhistoria är ett återkommande inslag i utbildningen till ämneslärare med ingång i historia på Malmö universitet. Det är dock något som känns förbisett bland verksamma lärare ute på skolorna. Syftet med detta arbete är att undersöka hur ämneslärare i framförallt Malmö arbetar med lokalhistoria i sin undervisning. Vilka konnotationer gör lärarna när de hör begreppet lokalhistoria och vad väljer de att inkludera? Lokalhistoria är från början ett väldigt svårdefinierat begrepp. Vilka geografiska gränsdragningar görs för att något ska få kallas lokalhistoria? Är geografin ett viktigt kriterium för att något ska få vara lokalhistoria? Begreppet kommer därför att analyseras och diskuteras. En svårighet med detta arbete är att det inte finns någon fast definition av vad lokalhistoria är. Begreppets skiftande roll genom historien och framförallt i styrdokumenten har både försvårat och varit utmanande. Styrdokumenten som gäller för den svenska skolan idag ger lärare en enorm frihet. Denna frihet kan främja både kreativitet hos verksamma lärare men den är även orsaken till att undervisningen ser så olika ut mellan olika delar av landet. För att analysera resultatet av de intervjuer som gjorts i detta arbete har teorin grundat sig i begreppen historiemedvetande och historiebruk. Dessa begrepp har fungerat som ramverk för bearbetningen och kodningen av resultaten. Studien grundar sig i semistrukturerade intervjuer med verksamma lärare som undervisar i historia på varierande nivåer inom svensk skola. Resultatet är inte allt för olikt den tidigare forskning som gjorts inom detta fältet. Markanta olikheter från den tidigare forskningen går dock att urskilja i hur lärare väljer att implementera lokalhistoria i sin undervisning beroende på ålder, verksamhet och intresse. / Local history is a recurring feature in the history teacher program for upper secondary school at Malmo University. It is, however, something that feels overlooked amongst practicing upper secondary school teachers. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how these teachers, in Malmo especially, work with, and use local history in their classes. Which connotations do teachers make when they hear the term local history and what do they choose to include in their classes? Local history is from the start a difficult term to define. Which geographical boundaries have to be set for something to be classified as local history? Is geography even an important criteria for something to be called local history? The term local history will therefore be analysed and discussed in this essay. One difficulty while working on this paper was the knowledge that there is no fixed definition of what local history is. The ever changing role the term has played throughout history, and in the guidelines for Swedish schools in particular, have both been difficult and challenging. The guidelines for Swedish upper secondary school today enables substantial freedom for teachers. This freedom can promote the creativity of the teachers but it is also the reason why teaching can vary as much as it does between different parts of the country. In order to analyse the results of the interviews conducted in this paper the theoretical framework has been based on the concepts of historical consciousness and the use of history. These concepts have served as the framework for processing and the coding of the results. The paper is basing its results on semi-structured interviews with teachers who are active at different levels within the Swedish school system. The results do not differentiate much from previous studies made within this field. Major differences can however be seen in how teachers choose to work with local history depending on the age of their students, type of institution they teach at, as well as their own personal interests.
