Sammanfattning Syfte: Beskriva hur sjuksköterskor upplever sin roll inom den palliativa vården. Metod: En beskrivande litteraturstudie bestående av nio kvalitativa studier och en kvalitativ/ kvantitativ studie. Resultat: Sjuksköterskorna anser att deras relationsskapande roll innebär att ha förståelse för patientens behov, ge holistisk vård och agera som patientens förespråkare. Den stödjande rollen innebär att tillmötesgå patienten och de anhöriga i deras behov av information och stöd i att hålla hoppet uppe. Sjuksköterskorna måste upprätthålla en god kommunikativ förmåga, ha förståelse för olika gruppers synsätt och inställning. De behöver också ha en god kommunikation med kollegor för att kunna kommunicera med och om patienter och anhöriga. Sköterskorna anser att deras koordinerande roll som länk mellan patient och anhörig, mellan sköterskor och övrig personal, är viktig. Slutsatser: Arbetet inom den palliativa vården kan ge sjuksköterskor berikade erfarenheter och en känsla av meningsfullhet. Sjuksköterskor vilka arbetar med denna typ av vård kunde känna stress vilket kunde leda till utbrändhet. Sjuksköterskor behöver stöd för att må bra och klara sitt arbete i palliativ vård. Reflektionstillfällen för sjuksköterskor stödjer deras personliga utveckling och minskar sårbarheten för och effekterna av stress på arbetsplatsen. / Summary Aim: Describe how nurses perceive their role in palliative care. Method: A descriptive study of nine qualitative studies and one qualitative/quantitative study. Result: Nurses consider their relationship-building role as that they understand the needs of the patient, providing holistic care and acting as patient advocates. The supporting role is to meet the patient and relatives needs to give them information and also keep their hopes alive. Nurses must maintain good communication skills, in order to have an understanding of the views and attitudes of different groups. They also need to maintain good communication with colleagues in order to communicate with them about the patient and their relatives. This is in order to reinforce the patient with hope and support. The nurses believe that their coordinative role as a link between patients and family members is important. They are also a link between themselves and their colleagues. Conclusions: The work of palliative care nurses can provide enriched experiences and a sense of purpose. In some cases, nurses feel stress, which could lead to burnout. Nurses need support to thrive and carry out their work in palliative care. Reflection opportunities for nurses support their personal development and reduce vulnerability to and impact of stress in the workplace.
