Flygets framtid : Från problem till möjligheter

The purpose of this essay is to investigate the airline industry and its part in the mobile community. Further on, to investigate the factors that throughout history are having an impact on the airline industry and have lead to the condition of today. Through this information we are outlining the future of the airline industry. This essay has been written in a qualitative approach. The empirical gathering has been made through interviews based on open discussions between the interviewers and respondents. We started out with creating a theoretical pre-understanding and continued by comparing how well these theories matched the reality. The gathering of the theoretical material was chosen on the basis how well it matches the subject of our essay. We have chosen theories that relate to the subjects, airline industry, mobile community and climate change. The empirical material has been gathered through three different interviews. The respondents all had different relations with the airline industry. The empirical material has been evaluated in comparison with adequate theory in the discussion chapter. The global airline industry is growing, but today their situation is strained, this due to several different internal and external factors. The most highlighted factors are the increased competition within the industry, increased expenditures and the fact that they have been declared as an environmental villain. To surmount this situation and solve the issue of their climate impact the industry must change, and it has been suggested that its quantity must be reduced. A lessened opportunity to travel by air will have an impact on our mobile community.
