This study aims to research how crisis situations are visualized. The study will research theboardgame Klarar du krisen? made by Svenska Lottakåren. Based on theories in visualcommunication and crisis communication the study does a visual analysis of a board game.The board game is then compared to a brochure that treats the same topic. The comparisondiscusses how a crisis is produced in different media and how the user is put into differentcrisis situations, but also how the composition and relation between text and image differsbetween the medias. The result shows the cards are simplistic and use a question-and-answerstructure. The icons are mostly designed for game design instead of crisis preparation andthere is a lack of relevance between text and image in the boardgame. The game sacrificesdesign for educational purposes but there is a clear orientation because of its simplicity andcomposition.
