Bakgrund World health organization (WHO) arbetar för att hindra att människor dör i förtid, och den svenska lagstiftningen skall stärka patientens rätt till god och säker vård. Suicid är en konsekvens för psykisk ohälsa och problemet växer världen över. Nya utmaningar och krav ställs på hälso- och sjukvårdspersonal genom preventionsarbete för att minska risken för psykisk ohälsa och suicid. Syfte Syftet med denna litteraturöversikt var att beskriva sjuksköterskans erfarenhet i mötet med suicidnära patienter för att belysa faktorer som gynnar och hämmar omvårdnaden. Metod Studien genomfördes som en litteraturöversikt baserat på 13 vetenskapliga artiklar vilka var publicerade under tidsperioden 2012–2022. Databaserna PubMed, CINAHL samt PsycINFO användes för att hitta relevanta artiklar, som fortsättningsvis analyserats genomstrukturerat och systematiskt arbetssätt. Resultat Resultatet visar olika förutsättningar som påverkar kvalitén på omvårdnad i praktiken samt sjuksköterskans möte med suicidnära patienter i olika verksamheter. Sammantaget lyfts klinisk erfarenhet, brist på utbildning och förmågan att kontrollera egna känslor i mötet med de suicidnära som är avgörande för sjuksköterskans bedömning och planeringav omvårdnad. Huvudfynd i denna litteraturöversikt beskrivs genom kategorier och relevanta underrubriker. Slutsats Utifrån litteraturöversiktens resultat kan slutsatsen dras att sjuksköterskan som saknar vidareutbildning, kompetens och erfarenhet hämmas i mötet med suicidnära patienter. Däremot lyfter studien resultat för främjande faktorer som god kommunikation samt lugn och trygg miljö. / Background The World Health Organization (WHO) works to prevent people from dying prematurely and the Swedish legislation aims to strengthen the patient’s rights to good and safe care. Mental illness is growing worldwide, and a consequence of mental illness is suicide. The healthcare professionals need to work with prevention and face new challenges to work for reducing the risk of mental illness and suicide. Aim The aim of this literature review was to describe the nurse´s experience in meeting with suicidal people as well as illustrating factors that benefit and impede nursing. Method This study was conducted through a literature review on 13 articles which were published during 2012–2022. To find relevant articles, the databases PubMed, CINAHL and PsychINFO were used, which analyzed through a structured and systematic working method. Results The results showed different conditions that affect the quality on nursing in meeting with suicidal people. The conditions are clinical experience, ability to control emotions and education. Main findings in this literature review are described through categories and relevant subheadings. Conclusions From the results of the study, there is an implication that the meeting with suicidal people is affected by the nurse’s level of education as well as clinical experience. The lack of relevant education and experience impedes the nurse in the meeting with suicidal patients. Good communication and a safe and calm environment helped the nurse in meeting with suicidal patients.
