The aim of this literature study was to examine the way women with drug problems and a criminal lifestyle is described in previous research articles and how they are treated - as a victim, a perpetrator or both. Our questions at issues were phrased to answer these reflections, but turned out to be quite difficult to fulfill. Our result showed that there was a clear connection between drug using and violence, either during a person's childhood or domestic violence in close relationships. Furthermore, there was a connection between drug using and criminal activity as well. To achieve these results we did a literature review of 16 scientific articles. The sample included both qualitative and quantitative articles. Our conclusion based on the articles and our analysis of the result was that there isn't enough research on the subject to answer the questions at issues, since most of the research on both drug use and criminality is based on the male population.
