Effektbaserad elnätstariff : En studie om hur belastningen på elnätet påverkas av förändrade prissättningsmodeller

Increased electricity use, electric vehicles and variable energy sources such as solar panels and wind power, will affect the power grid in the near future. On the first of May 2022, Mälarenergi Elnät AB introduced a time-differentiated power grid tariff in the area of Barkarö, Enhagen-Ekbacken, Tidö-Lindö and Örtagården in Västerås in order to reduce power peaks. The purpose is to minimize losses and ensure a continuous amount of capacity in the network. The new tariff result in new price conditions for customers, with a higher potential to affect their monthly fee. Power peaks can vary depending on the capacity the customer requires. During the cold months of the year, energy use and power consumption are higher, compared to the summer months. The power use also varies from hour to hour. In this thesis the costumers load profile is analyzed to assess the customer's ability to move load from high price hours to low price hours. The results from the analysis showed that power peaks often occur during the morning and evening, but different customers' load profile can look very different. Customers with large variable power outputs, such as electric car owners, have the greatest opportunity to move load. When a group of customers moves their load from one hour to another, power peaks in the network can be evened out. However, there is a risk that new power peaks will occur at other times of the day. The study has been conducted to a limited extent. For more reliable results and conclusions, more information is required about the customers and about the conditions that exist for load transfer, such as heating source, household income, number of people in the household, weather data, etc.
