Det snittade hörnet är byggnadens karaktär, och fungerar som ett transparent skal som tillåter en kommunikativ relation mellan insida och utsida. Vad som kommer att utspela sig i byggnaden, kommer i det snittade hörnets fasad även att återspeglas utanpå. Även entrén formas av snittet så att det tillkommer en vinkel som för en inåt, och gör entrén mer öppen och välkomnande. Ljuset som under dagtid strålar in söderifrån, och under de mörkare årstiderna strålar ut från detta snitt, gör att byggnaden känns levande. I övrigt är byggnaden diskret utan att vara alltför anonym. Förlagan till denna form är Edelstamska husets egna tillbyggnad. Byggnaderna är tänkta att relatera till varandra som syskon. På så vis smälter tillbyggnaden in i stadens helhetsbild snarare än att i första hand förknippas med Nationalmuseum. Även om tillbyggnadens design tar hänsyn till de äldre byggnaderna, så har snittet ett modernt uttryck, och detta eftersom en byggnad är oupplösligt förenad med den tid och rum den formats i. / "A compressed vertical building that release room for public places and functions." The building, which is primarily for technology, is designed as a rectangle with a cut corner. The cut corner becomes the buildings character, and acts as a transparent shell that allows a communicative relation between the inside and the park outside. What will be taking place in the building, will also be reflected in the facade incision. Even the entrance is shaped by the cut so that there is an angle of an inward movement that makes the entrance more open and welcoming. The light during the daytime shining from the south, and during the darker seasons shines from this cut, makes the building feel alive. Otherwise, the building is discrete without being too anonymous. The model of this form comes from the Edelstamska husets own extension. The buildings are supposed to relate to each other as siblings. This will blend the building into the city's overall picture rather than primarily associated with the National Museum. Although the building's design takes into account the older buildings, the cut has a modern expression, and this because a building in general is inextricably linked to the time and space it is formed in.
