Utveckling av en ytterväggshuv för ventilationsanläggningar / Development of an external louvre for ventilation systems

This thesis was performed at Flexit located in Töcksfors and had a main focus on a product which needed development. The two main targets of the project were to reduce the manufacturing cost with 20% and design the new product for reduced ice accretion compared to the current louvre. The manufacturing cost was reduced 40 % for the developed product. The ice accretion was reduced with respect to pressure drop, velocity and larger useful area, but with how much the design reduced ice accretion can’t be predicted because practical tests haven’t been performed. The functional analysis had 17 different functions, 15 of these were accomplished, while sound level and small animal protection for the system not could be improved. As support for the development work a CFD-simulation on the CAD-model was made. Tests on pressure drop, flow and noise level were made in the company’s laboratory. This was to make it able to compare the current product with the developed.
