Bakgrund: Över 60 000 människor drabbas av cancer varje år i Sverige och för vissa innebär det att palliativ vård är oundvikligt. Syftet med att vårda patienter inom palliativ vård är att stötta patienten, ge komfort och lindra lidande, därav hjälpa patienten att få en så god livskvalité som möjligt. Sjuksköterskan är en av de personer som jobbar närmast med patienten och kan därför bli mycket påverkad. Personcentrerad vård är en av de viktigaste termerna inom omvårdnad och innebär att fokuset ligger på patienten. Kommunikation är ett nyckelord som är speciellt viktig inom palliativ vård och är en förutsättning för en god vård. Syfte: Syftet med denna studie var att undersöka sjuksköterskors upplevelse av palliativ vård inom onkologi. Metod: Studien är en litteraturstudie baserad på tio kvalitativa vetenskapliga studier inom valt ämnesområde. Resultat: Resultatet presenteras i tre teman, sjuksköterskornas känslomässiga upplevelse, kommunikationens betydelse samt verksamhetens betydelse. Dessa inkluderar sammanlagt sju subteman och beskriver sjuksköterskans upplevelse av palliativ vård inom onkologi. Slutsats: Att hantera döden är en obehaglig upplevelse, men flera sjuksköterskor ansåg sig hantera det på ett bra sätt. Det syns stora kulturella skillnader i sättet att kommunicera med patienter samt att en personalbrist reflekterar sjuksköterskornas förmåga att ge en god vård. Kunskapsutveckling: En mer utvidgad utbildning gällande bland annat kommunikation behövs för att uppfylla saknade kunskaper för sjuksköterskorna. Nyutexaminerade sjuksköterskor behöver få mer stöd och handledning av de mer erfarna för att minska risken för en psykisk påverkan. Fortsatt forskning skulle kunna vara hur kommunikationen ska utformas för att hjälpa sjuksköterskorna på ett mer effektivt sätt / Background: Over 60 000 people get cancer every year in Sweden and for some it means that palliative care is unavoidable. The aim of nursing within palliative care is to support the patient, provide comfort and relieve suffering, thus help the patient have the best quality of life as possible. The nurse is one of the people who works the closest to the patient and there for can become greatly affected. Person-centered care is one of the most important terms and means that the focus is on the patient. Communication is a key word that is particularly important in palliative care and is essential for good care. Aim: The aim of this study was to describe nurses’ experience of palliative care within oncology care. Method: The study was a literature study based on ten scientific qualitative studies within the subject area. Result: The result was presented by means of three themes, the nurse’s emotional experience, the significance of communication, and the significance of the organization. These include sub-themes and describe nurses’ experiences. Conclusion: Dealing with death is an unpleasant experience. However, several nurses consider themselves to deal with it in a good way. There are large cultural differences in the way of communicating with patients and that staff shortage reflects the nurses’ ability to provide good care. Knowledge development: A more extended education regarding, among other things, communication is needed to fill missing knowledge for nurses. Newly graduated nurses need to receive more support and guidance from the more experienced nurses to reduce the risk of a psychological impact. Continued research could be how the communication should be designed to help the nurses in a more efficient way.
