With the anthropogenetic impact on the climate, previous research has emphasized the need for climate adaptation in order to mitigate the effects and reduce the risk induced by climate change in the future. In order to implement solutions and get good coordination there is a need for long-term funding and security in financing according to research. Studies have also shown the need for regional actors and coordination in order to achieve successful implementation. In Sweden the county administrative boards are responsible for the coordination of climate change adaptation but have recently been faced with budget cuts aimed specifically for coordinating climate adaptation at the regional level. The purpose of this study is therefore to examine how the county administrative board's work with regional coordination for climate change adaptation has worked overtime, and how the work is affected by the budget decision. In order to examine this, semi-structured interviews with six employees from six geographically dispersed county administrative boards have been conducted. The analysis shows nine themes related to the coordination assignment and the effects of the government's decision to discontinue with the targeted funds for climate adaptation. The results of the study show that the discontinuation of funds have affected the county administrative board's work with the coordination assignment and that differences in the allocation of funds have given rise to different conditions for each county administrative board. It is clear from the analysis that funds aimed specifically for climate adaptation are essential for the county administrative boards to be able to maintain the coordination work and to ensure the continuity needed to address an ever-changing climate. / Med den antropogena påverkan på klimatet har tidigare forskning understrukit behovet av klimatanpassning för att mildra effekterna och minska risken för framtida klimatförändringar. För att implementera lösningar och få en god samordning behövs långsiktig och varaktig finansiering enligt forskning. Studier har också visat på behovet av regionala aktörer och samordning för att uppnå ett framgångsrikt genomförande. I Sverige ansvarar Länsstyrelserna för samordningen av klimatanpassningen men har på senare tid ställts inför budgetnedskärningar som specifikt syftar till att samordna klimatanpassningen på regional nivå. Syftet med denna studie är därför att undersöka hur Länsstyrelsens arbete med regional samordning för klimatanpassning har fungerat över tid. Och hur arbetet påverkas av budgetbeslutet. För att undersöka detta har semistrukturerade intervjuer genomförts med sex anställda klimatanpassningssamordnare från sex geografiskt spridda Länsstyrelser. Analysen visar nio teman som berör samordningsuppdraget och regeringens beslut att avveckla riktade medel för klimatanpassningsarbete. Resultatet av studien visar att avvecklingen av medel har påverkat Länsstyrelsernas arbete med samordningsuppdraget och att skillnader i medelstilldelningen gett upphov till olika förutsättningar för respektive Länsstyrelse. Det är tydligt utifrån analysen att öronmärkta medel är väsentligt för att Länsstyrelserna ska kunna upprätthålla klimatanpassningsarbetet och för att säkerställa kontinuiteten som behövs för att ta itu med ett ständigt förändrat klimat.
