Selektivitetsanalys På Stena Metall

The degree project was completed during spring 2020 at Ramböll in Halmstad. In all types of electrical systems, it is important that in the event of electrical faults, the protection closest to the fault must break and disconnect the installation part where the fault occurred, that is called selectivity. Unnecessary disconnections on surrounding electric mains should be avoided. In order to prevent this from happening, a so-called selective plan is drawn up. The goal of the work is to establish a new selective plan for the property section called SLF at Stena Metall's recycling plant in Halmstad. Deficiencies in the existing selective plan have resulted in incorrect protection being triggered at high loads and at smaller power spikes. This has led to a large part of the plant becoming powerless and thus creating costly production stops. In order to prevent this from happening again, a new selective plan must be drawn up with regard to low and high voltage. Earth fault protection and overcurrent protection are the protection features on the plant's high voltage side that have been used. The low voltage side is only protected with overcurrent protection. With technical support from supervisors at Ramböll, a new selective plan for SLF was created using the Netkoll program. The report does not report any follow-up to the selective plan after changing setting values for relay protection and overcurrent protection.
