När ett barn insjuknar i en svår sjukdom är det oundvikligt att föräldrarna påverkas både emotionellt och socialt. Då barnet är i stort behov av sina föräldrar kan det uppstå problem eftersom föräldrarollen ändras i och med att barnet läggs in på sjukhus. Barnsjukvården har gått mot en familjefokuserad vård som är baserad på en nära och kontinuerlig involvering i barnets familj. Genom att vårdpersonalen bygger upp en ömsesidig relation till föräldrarna och deras barn kan de lättare hjälpa dem med deras grundläggande behov. Syftet med denna studie är att beskriva hur föräldrar till barn på sjukhus upplever relationen med vårdpersonalen. Metoden som använts var en kvalitativ litteraturstudie. Föräldrarna beskriver att de har ett behov av att få och ge information samt att de får ta del av beslut som tas angående barnets vård. Genom att vårdpersonalen stödjer och uppmuntrar föräldrarna orkar de vara delaktiga i barnets vård och omvårdnad. När vårdpersonalen lyssnar och tar hjälp av dem för att bättre förstå deras sjuka barn, är det av stor betydelse för föräldrarnas upplevelse av relationen med vårdpersonalen. Personlig kontakt med vårdpersonalen är betydelsefull för föräldrarna så att en nära relation ska kunna utvecklas. / When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness it is inevitable that the parents are affected both emotionally and socially. When children are admitted into hospital they are in great need of parental care and at the same time the parental role changes and be cause of this problems can arise. In recent years children’s healthcare has progressed towards family orientated care with an emphasis on close and continuous involvement with the child’s family. When nursing staff build up a mutual relationship with parents and their children it becomes easier to help them with their basic needs. The aim of this study is to describe how parents with children in hospital experience the relationship with nursing staff and the method that has been used was a qualitative literature study. The parents describe that they need to be able to both give and receive information and be involved in decisions that are made in connection with the care of their children. When nursing staff support and encourage parents they enable them to cope and participate in the care of and caring for their child. Parents´ experience of the relationship to nursing staff is improved when the staff listens to and accepts help from them in order to gain a better understanding of their children. Close contact with nursing staff is meaningful for parents and enables the development of a deeper relationship.
