Syfte: Syftet med vår studie är att undersöka hur specialpedagogens kompetens används i grundskolan. Vi avser att undersöka vilka likheter och skillnader som finns i uppfattningar, hos lärare och specialpedagoger, om det specialpedagogiska uppdragetsinnehåll och funktion.Metod: Litteraturgenomgång samt kvalitativa intervjuer med tre specialpedagoger och sex lärare, verksamma på tre olika skolor, ligger till grund för vår studie.Resultatet: Intervjuerna visar att uppfattningen om specialpedagogens uppdrag skiljer sig åt på skolorna. Enligt specialpedagogerna är deras huvudsakliga uppdrag att ha ett övergripande ansvar för det specialpedagogiska stödet både på individ- grupp- ochorganisationsnivå. Det stämmer väl överens med Utbildningsplanen för Specialpedagogprogrammet vid Malmö högskola (2008). Enligt lärarna är emellertidden viktigaste funktionen att specialpedagogen ska finnas till för eleverna på individnivå. Vår slutsats är att specialpedagogen kan ses som en viktig kugge i hjulet för att förbättra hela skolans lärmiljö, utifrån visionen om att skapa ”en skola för alla”.Nyckelord: lärare, kompetens, specialpedagog, yrkesfunktion / Purpose: The purpose of our study is to examine how special education skills are used in primary school. We intend to examine the similarities and differences in the way teachers and special education teachers perceive the content and function of the special education assignment.Method: Literature review and interviews with three special education teachers and six teachers, working in three different schools, represents the basis for our study.Results: The interviews show that the perception of special education assignments differ in the schools. According to special educators their main mission is to have an overall responsibility for the special education support at the individual, group and organizational level. This fits well with the curriculum of the Special Education Teacher program at Malmö University (2008). According to the teachers, however, the primary role of the special educator is to be available to help students on an individual level. Our conclusion is that the special educator can be seen as an important player in the effort to improve the school learning environment, based on the vision of creating a school for all.Keywords: teachers, skills, special education, vocational functioning
