This study is about how children learn language and how preschool teachers work with linguistic stimulation in various ways. The purpose with the study is to examine how a few preschool teachers describe their work, how they stimulate children’s linguistic development in preschool and how they look at their own importance for children’s linguistic development.

The examination method is qualitative interview. I chose to do interviews because I was interested of the preschool teacher’s personal thoughts and opinions. Four preschool teachers participated in the study from three various sections.

The result of the interviews show that the preschoolteachers work conscious with linguistic stimulation. The preschool teachers emphasize is the dialogue with the children which is important for children’s linguistic development and this corresponds to the literature. The preschool teachers themselves think they are important for children’s linguistic development and that it’s important to use an appropriately and an adjustment language which also shows in the literature.
