Allemanshamnen is about preserving a public harbour from being privatised. It focuses on inviting citizens in the debate about public spaces through community engagement and the reactivation of urban space. It is a reaction. It is a proposal. It is an experiment. Can community engagement and participatory planning processes aid in the preservation of public spaces? A crossing is made over the highway, prioritising the pedestrians and cyclists of Karlstad. Bringing them out to the former industrial harbour. The crossing acts as a threshold to something new. Collective student housing is created through participatory processes, inhabited by dedicated enthusiasts. It is built with reused building-material in the form of shipping containers, pallets and other wastematerial found at the site. This paves way for new experimental housing, setting an example of what could be the future. Three container housing structures are made as a pilot-project. The inhabitants act as guardians of the site, working for a more open and available place for the public of Karlstad. The programme aims to create a space for both residents and visitors. A free and open space that is available to everyone. Securing the future of the harbour and the industrial heritage of the place. / Allemanshamnen handlar om att bevara en offentlig hamn från att privatiseras. Fokus ligger på att bjuda in medborgarna i debatten om offentliga platser genom samhällsengagemang och aktivering av urbana områden. Det är en reaktion, ett förslag och ett experiment. Kan samhällsengagemang och deltagande planeringsprocesser bidra till att bevara offentliga platser? En passage byggs över motorvägen, där fotgängare och cyklister i Karlstad prioriteras. Den leder dom ut till den tidigare industrihamnen. Passagen fungerar som en tröskel till något nytt, spännande och annorlunda. Ett kollektivt studentboende skapas genom deltagande processer bebott av personer som engagerar sig för platsen. Det byggs med återvunnet byggmaterial i form av fraktcontainrar, lastpallar och annat avfallsmaterial som hittas på platsen. Detta banar väg för nya experimentella boendelösningar och sätter ett exempel på vad framtiden kan innebära. Tre containerbostäder skapas som ett pilotprojekt. Invånarna agerar som väktare av platsen, och arbetar för en mer öppen och tillgänglig plats för Karlstads invånare. Programmet syftar till att skapa en plats för både boende och besökare. En fri och öppen platssom är tillgänglig för alla. Säkerställandet av hamnens framtid och platsens industriarv.
