Svenska flygresenärers tankar om trygghet på flygplatser : Terrorism och dess påverkan

Today’s society is facing a terrorism threat. Historically the air industry has been exposed of terror attacks and airports are characterized by their advanced security control in aim to keep the travellers and personnel safe. In this study, Swedish air travellers were interviewed to gauge their opinion on their sense of security while visiting airports. The results from a total of seven respondents provide an overview of Swedish travellers’ view on the risk of terrorism and the importance of security measures on airports. One overall conclusion is that the general opinion of sense of security amongst Swedish travellers is positive, especially in airports compared to sense of security in other crowded places. Together with summaries of existing theories on the subject, the results identified a couple of factors for increased sense of security. These included the presence of personnel, the condition of organizational level and that the combat of terrorism is clear and visible.
