Este trabajo investigativo debe tomarse como una intención de esclarecer las
transformaciones territoriales presentes en el valle de Yunguilla, lo cual bajo ningún
concepto se traduce en una versión de la realidad circundante en el lugar, sino a un proceso
de observación de los actores que intervienen en cada uno de los procesos territoriales que
se han gestado con el paso del tiempo.
Se ha buscado un pensamiento situado en las condiciones geográficas e históricas
acentuadas en el estudio de caso, tampoco se ha buscado entrelazar los lazos de parentesco
y de afinidad histórica que la autora mantiene en este espacio, sino que se ha pretendido
cumplir con los objetivos planteados de una manera objetiva y clara.
Respecto de la elección del tema y la definición del objeto de estudio fueron el
resultado de las constantes preocupaciones sobre el quehacer turístico en el sur del Ecuador,
pues aunque esta actividad constituye de gran relevancia, no es equitativa ni tampoco cuenta
con suficientes directrices para un desarrollo sostenible. La intención del mismo es la de
generar un conocimiento netamente crítico sobre el valle, que posteriormente pueda permitir
estudios más específicos sobre las dinámicas territoriales que se suscitan en el lugar. De esta
manera se busca incrementar la producción investigativa en el área geográfica- turística de
la provincia del Azuay, pues sus vínculos son extensos y hasta el momento la producción no
se ha centrado en su estudio.
El proceso de elaboración del presente trabajo incluyó el aporte de varias
personalidades de la ciudad y la región, quienes, interesados en el estudio en la zona,
aportaron ampliamente al debate y reflexión sobre los elementos en juego en el área a
intervenir. Este trabajo comprende la culminación de varias inquietudes que a lo largo de mi
carrera universitaria fui tejiendo, y que fueron esclarecidas gracias al trabajo de campo y a
la observación de una realidad compleja existente en el lugar. También esta tesis permitió
esclarecer con mayor precisión el concepto de territorio y territorialidad, su aplicabilidad
hacia el turismo y a las problemáticas existentes en Yunguilla.
Por otra parte, este trabajo investigativo servirá de mucho para el rol que desempeño
actualmente en la Universidad de Cuenca, y a fortalecer las líneas de investigación del
quehacer turístico que aunque comprenden en gran medida la planificación en territorio, no
abarcan la problemática que puede existir en el mismo. / This research work should be taken as an intention to clarify the territorial
transformations present in the Yunguilla Valley, which under no circumstances translates
into a version of the surrounding reality in the place, but to a process of observing the actors
involved in each of the territorial processes that have developed over time.
A thought has been sought in the geographical and historical conditions accentuated
in the case study, not has the relationships of kinship and historical affinity that the author
maintains in this space have been sought, but has been intended to meet the objectives set in
an objective and clear manner.
With regard to the choice of the subject and the definition of the object of study were
the result of the constant concerns about tourist work in southern Ecuador, because although
this activity is of great relevance, it is not equitable nor does it have sufficient guidelines for
sustainable development. It´s intention is to generate a purely critical knowledge about the
valley, which can subsequently allow for more specific studies on the territorial dynamics
that arise on the site. In this way it seeks to increase the research production in the
geographical-tourism area of the province of Azuay, since its links are extensive and so far
the production has not focused on its study.
The process of drawing up this work included the contribution of several
personalities from the city and the region, who interested in the study in the area, contributed
extensively to the debate and reflection on the elements at stake in the area to be intervened.
This work includes the culmination of several concerns that throughout my university career
I was weaving, and which were clarified by the fieldwork and the observation of a complex
reality existing in the place. This thesis also made it possible to clarify more precisely the
concept of territory and territoriality, its applicability towards tourism and the problems
existing in Yunguilla.
On the other hand, this research work will go a long way for the role I currently play
at the University of Cuenca, and to strengthen the lines of research of tourism work that
although they largely understand planning in territory, do not cover the problems that may
exist in it.
