The municipality in Uppsala has set up goals for the future work concerning climate-and energy issues. As one way to achieve these goals the municipality started aproject called Uppsala climate protocol. During one of the project meetings anabatement map was presented. The map showed what savings in carbon dioxide andmarginal costs for different actions can be made. Statistics show that 40 % of thepopulation in Uppsala lives in a condominium. This work examines if the abatementmap is a good tool for developing an interest for energy efficient actions among thecondominiums. To investigate this three fictitious apartment buildings where puttogether. The calculated energy savings together with estimated costs for each actionapplied on the building formed an abatement map. To investigate the understanding ofthe abatement maps interviews where made with three condominiums in Uppsala. The interviews showed that the maps are hard to understand but when explained, they created an interest for making energy efficient actions in their respectiveapartment buildings. Most appealing was the fact that several actions where showed inthe same picture. The different opinions were taken in to account and a newsuggestion for the visualization of the abatement map was produced. In the new mapthe structure and readability were improved. The abatement maps can be an efficienttool while discussing energy efficient changes in a condominium. By complementingthe map with an explaining example the understanding of the map can be easier.
